An Open letter from a pilot to Glen Tilton (CEO United Air Lines):

Recently a lot has been said and written in the press concerning
pilots' salaries and compensation. We have been told about how much it
will cost our company, our job has been compared to others, and
various subtle and not so subtle threats and intimidation tactics have
been hurled at our group. In light of the current situation, please
permit me, a pilot, to give you a small glimpse into my world.

Don't compare my job to other jobs:


How many boardrooms explode over Long Island Sound?

How many meetings conclude with hundreds of dead bodies?
How many trucks cost $82 million dollars?
How many doctors spend half the month away from their families?
Do the children of media representatives cry when Daddy puts on his
uniform to go to work because they know he'll be gone for a week?
How many salesmen lose their jobs because they have high blood pressure?
How many lawyers spend Christmas alone in a crash pad?
When your spouse is watching TV and the program is interrupted does

Ask the CEO of ValueJet the cost of a DC-9 buried in the

Everglades.
Ask Fred Smith the cost to scrape a DC-10 and MD-11 from the runways
at Steward and Newark.
Ask Korean Airlines the cost of a 747 that didn't quite make the runway at Guam.
Ask Fine Air the cost to clean up a DC-8 off a Miami street.
Ask Bob Crandall the cost of a B-757 impacting a Columbian mountain.
And if not for their cool, calm professionalism, what could have been
the cost of a UAL B-777 that lost oil pressure over the middle of the

When you try to intimidate me, remember:


It was I who flew Cobra gunships in the jungles of Vietnam while you

worked on your master's degree.
It is I who sits alone at the tip of an F-18 in the silent instant
before I am catapulted over a cold, dark sea, while you sleep
peacefully in your bed.
It was I who one night watched my wings grow heavy with ice, miles
from the safety of the nearest airport, praying that I had enough fuel
to find clear skies, while you watched Monday Night Football.
It was I who flew a C-130 into Panamanian gunfire, while you decorated
your Christmas tree in 1989.
It was I who faced head-on the fourth largest army in the world over
the deserts of Iraq and brought it to its knees, while you watched it
on CNN.
It was I who landed an A-6 on a floating piece of tarmac no bigger
than your backyard, while you mowed yours.
It was I who orbited in unarmed tankers over enemy territory to
replenish others sworn to protect you.
It was I, who watched missiles and bullets blossom in my face, yet

It was I who knows a little boy who will never play catch with his
dad, so that you may play with you grandchild.

Sir, please don't try to intimidate ME. I am not your enemy, I am your

asset, an asset that has experienced and accomplished things few dare

It amazes me that unions are aware of the bad treatment of Crew at Ryanair and still,it goes on each and every day.
A website for Ryanair pilots REPA, i think was set up to help pilots at Ryanair...Surly enough, Balpa and IALPA must have contact with governments and Aviation Authorities,who would listen to Ryanair Crew....

Unions must do so much more for Ryanair Crew as it is a matter of life and death,as seen a few weeks ago..''SUICIDE''

 I would not be telling you anything new when pointing out that after 9/11,airport security extended   into areas  previously unimaginable. Nowadays the  probability of passing through a far reaching body scan are far greater than ever before. If you were to ask me if I was concerned or in any way embarrassed about  such probing  practices taking place, I would  say, “not in the slightest”. Having said that I might have some sympathy for the trusted security officers having to conduct this type of surveillance. Best to  spare a thought for them, in hope that the repetitive nature of their profession, does not hamper the level of  commitment required.
 As a commercial licensed pilot myself,   although be it of  lesser non-essential form of aviation, I never allow myself  to question or indeed get ruffled whilst having to endure checks and repeated checks as I make my way through to  air side of  any particular airport.  Whilst in such   time-consuming   queues, I prefer to allow myself to be entertained, by    observing  the seemingly choreographed body language of those around me. How many times can  one   set about demonstrating displeasure by huffing and puffing at the same time flexing ones  right arm to  eye-level  in order to squint  at  ones  glittering timepiece.  At the same  as this  well practiced dance is taking,  I am evaluating  the grumblings of my nearby, sometimes not so nearby   fellow travelers.  Although, most likely not terrorists themselves, more often than not  they appear to have one thing in common.  I’m referring to the selectively  choosing   not to accept that security measures in place are there for the good of all genuine travelers alike.   Surely there is no contest, one-hour also going through security, is far better than spending the morning with the undertaker.
 Of course my fellow  travelers have every right to enquire if after  been deprived  of that very necessary, few extra minutes  rummaging through duty-free,    are they  now guaranteed safe passage to their intended destination? after all, I  for one would say there’s no denying that the airport  authorities have done their part. So what could go wrong.
 For the normal passenger, without any experience in the airline industry, they would be excused for thinking that everything his hunky-dory.  However  has anybody ever given the slightest  thought  regarding the flight crew, what is their background, what are the training standards of the company that they represent?  How old is the aircraft, has it been serviced correctly? These  are all relevant  considerations.  In reality we have no way of knowing the   answers to any of the above, we simply settle back into our window seat,  to be pampered by a    the highly  undervalued, yet sometimes mollycoddling cabin crew.
 I suspect that the traveling public would be horrified to learn that despite having some highly qualified flight crew sitting up front, that their expertise may well be seriously undermined by the threats and intimidation practices waged against them by their employers. Yes talking about managers with no aviation qualifications.  Now before anyone starts having  nightmares, even after my  experiences  with rogue air operators,   I remain confident that majority of operators are worthy   of the trust afforded by their passengers.
   In my previous publications that can now be found on the web,  I gave birth to the phrase  “The Alaskan Airlines Scenario.”  In short a diligent ground engineer was soon sent packing after ordering a $60,000  replacement part referred to as Jack screw.   With the engineer unceremoniously yet  economically sidelined by his employer, the offending aircraft  was  quickly released back into service without repairs being carried out.
 It was not long before the very aircraft plummeted into the sea killing all 83 on board. You will not be surprised  that the following  investigation, found that the  jack screw had failed due to improper  servicing practices.

In my situation, in 2009 after the owners had already had three fatalities on their hands  spanning  over two separate accidents, I was appointed safety officer of UK registered Serengeti Balloon Safaris Ltd. Just prior to being appointed to this position, I had been assured of the continuance of my employment as pilot. Once my initial safety report hit the bosses desk,  similar to the Alaskan airlines engineer, I was also sent packing, however not before been warned not to bother reporting them to the civil aviation  authority, “you’ll be wasting your time as we fill their pockets” As if this was not bad enough,  another ruthless warning was quickly  heading my way “if you do not go quietly I will tarnish your reputation within the industry and see that you never fly again”  
 I have not flown since that time. 
 One year after my rather abrupt  departure, I would go public  warning the traveling public to expect an hot air balloon accident  taking place in the Serengeti National Park.   
  Whilst the company did everything they could to bring down my website and photographic evidence  of aircraft defects, I maintained a presence. 
 Within four months of my warning  been ignored,  one American and one Danish passenger  were killed,  eight others were seriously injured and remain traumatised to this day.   Interestingly only one balloon pilot decided to fly that morning, with the other, an Australian pilot, stating that it was too windy to do so.
 There is a twist to this story, and one certainly destined for the headlines.   The company in question is now  placing   charges against me. Amongst  numerous charges,  in an act of hypocrisy Serengeti Balloon Safaris Ltd are now claiming $500,000 damages from me apparently for damaging their business.  
 I would encourage comments from both the  aviation industry and the traveling public.   I would particularly welcome views of what you think should be done  in order to bring  such  wayward operators in to line with normal and respected commercial aviation practices.

Midnight on 14th June 2011 RyanairDontCare Campaign lit candles and said prayers in respect of Paul Ridgard (Real Important Pilot ) at Ryanair.
We would like to thank Training Pastor Mick Kinsella and his wife Susan and the people who came along..
No donation bucket was used as i thought it was not right to protest and Donate at the same time...

At 2 Oclock Liverpool Airport air traffic control centre made time for us to light 10 Chinese Latins,all with Paul's name on,which myself,Gerry my uncle and Patrick from Anfield Scandal helped to light..
These were a respect to a Pilot,who we believe was a GREAT first officer at Ryanair, just a bloody shame O'Leary and Bonderman never thought so......
At 12.30 pm on 15th June 2011 i stood 50 ft away from a Ryanair Aircraft getting ready to load passengers and held a placard up for Crew to see.....RYANAIR INSULTS PILOTS was the wording....


From 2am till 4pm on the 15th June i did a protest outside the John Lennon Airport.I was trying to do it for 24 hours but 16 was all i could do as it was very cold and wet with no roof cover...
Many passengers and crew and staff at John Lennon saw our Anti Ryanair Banners and asked for information,which was pleasing...RyanairDontCare Campaign wish to thank John Lennon Airport and the Airport Police for allowing this Peaceful protest..

It was amazing how many passengers do not like Ryanair,many told me yesterday,but many still use this Airline which are, Europe's Greatest Training Robbers''GUARENTEED''.
Passengers need to look at the moral issues when booking a flight with Ryanair,they need to know how bad a company they are, putting profit before safety,Crew and passengers....

I wish to comment on what i saw with regards Ryanair Cabin Crew at John Lennon Airport..I saw the change of shift whilst i was their yesterday and Ryanair Cabin Crew came out in ones and three,s ,  which leads me to believe the 1 cabin crew (was no1 on aircraft) which have better pay and the 3 cabin crew (2 ,3,4 probationary on aircraft) who are exploited by Ryanair.... No 1 is a supervisor, as many give probationary cabin crew a hard time whilst in work,,,Is this the reason why they walk out of work this way......I would welcome any comments on this please...

..40 Euro per hour (80 Euro Profit) extra charged by Brookfield to Ryanair....(that is why Ryanair use third party)
Coffee on board 2.50 Euro.(yes pilots pay for coffee same as passengers) 82.50 Euro profit to Ryanair...
Pilot's are Exploited BIG time at Ryanair,as many are in depression as a direct result of Ryanair treatment...
As many will tell,Ryanair want Pilots and Cabin Crew to fail....Failure Brings big profits to Ryanair...
These failure are put in place by O'Leary and his Management team as many excellent Crew have been Terminated wrongly.....People say,it is only a hard company to work for,work hard and you will succeed,
this is a lie...Ryanair put PROFIT before human life on a daily bases....Safety of passengers and Crew are not PRIORITY......Fear of loosing your job,keeps so many in place.....In simple terms, BULLY Tactics is the Ryanair way....Tony Owen,head of training only did what Bonderman and O'Leary told him to do.....

We call on  John Lennon Airport/Airport Police to facilitate this peaceful meeting as a respect to all Ryanair Crew...
12 Latins will be released after the last flight as a respect to Paul Ridgard..(Real Important Pilot ) R.I.P......

RYANAIR BROOKFIELD PILOT AVIATION CONTRACT...WE NEED YOUR HELP

Can any Ryanair pilots who holds a brookfield contract please give Ryanairdontcare Campaign information please.
We need to know if any loan is in place with the Bank of Ireland with regards any training paid to Ryanair or agents from pilots...

RYANAIR PASSENGERS and CREW LIVE'S AT RISK....RYANAIR PILOT VOICE.......AUTHORITIES NEED TO ACT ''NOW''

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am a PILOT, working for Ryanair over the last four years. I am based in ..... and have been working out of base multiple times. I have seen a lot from this company and i have noted that there are serious dangerous things going on in this company.
There is a very high level of stress and fatigue The pilots are living in continuous fear, scared to speak up, cause off getting fired. We have no union, and a lot of pilots are forced on a (illegal) free-lance contract, which can be canceled anytime, even after 5 years of duty.

There are multiple things going on in this company that will get headlines on tomorrows newspapers.
most of the pilots are a ticking time bomb... can not cope with the high stress level, sleeping during flights and are not able to perform 100% when necessary.
there are multiple things like (quick example) the incident on 12/04/2009. where a ryanair flight landed on the taxiway in CAG, instead of the runway.
We also had people landing with the wrong flaps settings(very high speed approaches), and people taking off in the wrong configuration...
I hope you understand that is a big safety issue, and one day this will lead into something else....

I have a lot of other colleagues, first officers as well captains, who can not deal with the company stress no more.
Always living in fear; Ryanair can end your contract anytime. Furthermore, its not possible to build up any social life. RYR often changes you around all bases, and your ''home base'' can be changed anytime. This gives a lot of stress for people with a family, and having i.e. a mortgage on a house. Also the aggressive business strategy of RYR includes closing bases from day to day, just to force the government to deal with RYR's demands.
lately they transferred all Pilots from the Marseille base. They are all totally Fu#@, they were also FORCED to take a 30% pay cut. take it or leave it.
You can image, how they feel, having everything build up in Marseille, and now leaving to another base, with a forced pay cut, not being able to fund all monthly expenses no more, not being home with the family.
TICK, TACK, TICK, TACK.

Another thing is that a lot of pilots are flying out of base,
To get to your destination base for that working week, you have to travel around the whole ryanair network. To get from Italy, to i.e. Germany, you have to travel via Denmark and you will be busy two days longer, to get to your work, and to get back from. RYANAIR DOESNT COUNT THESE TRAVELS AS DUTY TIME. This ends up in people stressing around from a to b. to get there in time. often you end up on your destination in the end of evening. Getting in your hotel around twelve, and asleep around 1. thereafter you have to get up at 4.15 to start with your early flights.
I think we agree that an 3 hours sleep is not enough to have the responsibility of four flights x 189 passengers.
Again, Ryanair, doesn't count this as official duty time. But on the pilot roster this comes up as a new temporarily out of base station. how you get there is your own problem.
By JAA avation LAW, this IS counted as duty time. But, probably RYR made a deal, and until now nobody is looking at this... and meanwhile this illegal rostering is going on and on... bringing more fatigue among the pilots. TICK TACK TICK TACK


90% of the 25min turnarounds a a lie, and we lie on the paper, just not to get questioned by the company.


Meanwhile, 99% percent of the pilots want a union. But RYR strategically makes sure we can not get one. Last time they 'freezed'' all UK bases, nobody in and out. and they told all the FirstOfficers that they wouldn't never get their command upgrade if there came a Union.
I don't know the exact figures, but to get a union u need the majority of all pilots to vote for a union. RYR at this time hired new pilots, and they offered them a contract and only a job, if they would sign on forehand to be against a union. in this smart case it wasn't possible to get a union.
Everybody who speaks about any union, just gets fired...that's the culture and the fact that is there right now...in this company.


we just have to see, if this ''awarded'' company will be a success in the future.
From the inside, i can tell you that a lot of pilots are leaving.
Air Dubai, approached RYR on a gentlemen s basis, to warn them that a couple of hundred pilots are busy with the selection process at fly Dubai and they have taken already a lot of them.
Also already a 100 pilots left to emirates.
there was a captain who was off the full month off April. The 1st of may, crew control called the captain cause he was late and thereafter didn't show up for work. he disappeared, left the company with no notice, and got already a job in Qatar. He just treated the company, as the company did with him.

- RYR announced a WET LEASE with other companies, cause they don't have crew to operate their flights this summer.

- and yes it is true what they say....
    The only thing we get form the company is a cup of warm water.... we have to bring our own instant coffee... to make our coffee.....

Our campaign has sent safety and security issues to the IAA and CAA  before which have not been acted on to date.
These issues above are a concern to everyone in Aviation,Crew and passengers lives are at RISK...

For these issues above (comment) to happen at Ryanair and the Authorities do nothing,something very wrong is happening regarding RYANAIR and the AUTHORITIES...Is it CORRUPTION ??????
