RYANAIR EUROPE'S MOST EXPLOITED CREW AIRLINE IN EUROPE..GUARANTEED...

Working for Ryanair
Ryanair is one of the largest players in the industry.A 180 aircraft strong fleet, more than 30 bases across 10 provinces and carry almost 60 million passengers a year.
However, Ryanair still does not recognise a professional body or Union. Some would say that this fact has contributed to those impressive figures. Without Trade Union support to uphold terms and conditions, our pilots and crews now fly at very low cost in comparison to our peers. The company can pass on those savings to the consumer to encourage a higher load factor, which in turn, is used to impress traders on the stock markets and municipal governments for favourable airport contracts.
Flying for Ryanair has its advantages. You might have heard them before. Both the company and the pilots can quite rightly be proud of these facts, so the sales pitch can be somewhat well-worn. It goes like this: we have a ‘fixed’ roster pattern. Five days on, four days off. This can change to five on three off, or six on two off during the last quarter of the fiscal year. If you are flying out of your home base, you get to go home every night. We have one of, if not the newest fleets in the industry with an average age of three years. The aircraft are well maintained, the routes are varied and interesting and the Company’s growth means there’s plenty of potential for training or management positions and so on. From the outside, Ryanair can look appealing, and on the surface, it is. Life on the inside, however, is a little different.
The reality of life in Ryanair
Sitting down with the strategists behind the campaign, it was interesting to note that the first objective to achieve – our number one ‘want’ – was ‘a voice’; the power of collective bargaining. Increased terms and conditions are secondary. Simply put, the unanimous priority for those involved is, ‘we want to be heard’.
The problem lies in the way management view, and subsequently treat its staff. Contracts are handed out with a ‘take it or leave it’ approach. Annexes to the contracts, so-called ‘Agreements’, are imposed without proper consultation, with a view of ‘we can do what we want’. In Ryanair, pilots feel they are treated as property – once you sign up you are effectively signing all your flexibility to the company. Pilots who fight their corner are met with threats or punitive measures. Right now the mood is that management is actively working against pilots and cabin crew, which is an untenable position long term.
At the moment, the company operates with a system of Company Councils called ERCs (Employee Representative Committees). These entitle Ryanair to forgo official Union recognition as the ERCs should represent the view of the pilots to management and vice versa. In principle this might work with a fair and respectful management, who would be willing to listen and come to some compromise. However, within the last several years we have seen Ryanair’s management largely ignore its own rules on operating the ERCs, and has not been consistent in holding free and fair elections when it should, having only done this at the insistence of the pilots. Management ignores the views expressed by the pilots via the ERC members and engages in a very heavily-weighted top-down approach. Pilots, especially in larger bases, are often unaware of who is representing them; when they wish to be represented, the ERCs, for all their time and effort, are made ineffectual because management does not wish to engage in progressive discussion with them. The end result is that the effectiveness of the ERCs has been devalued.
Consider the reduction in our terms and conditions over the last decade. Since 1999 Ryanair pilots’ average pay in real terms has decreased; we now pay for our own uniforms, food and drink on board and our own travel and HOTAC to and from training facilities. Medicals are organised by the individual pilot, are paid for out of his/her disposable income and are taken on their days off; we receive no loss of licence cover, no health insurance (although these are covered in an ‘allowance’ which is granted at the company’s whim); we are not compensated for having to move base; our annual leave is a statutory 28 days, of which the company dictates when 18 must be taken; unpaid leave has been imposed and the company
has decreed that all pilots convert
to IAA licences at their own expense (currently £363) or face a £500 per year punitive fine.
Compare Ryanair’s growth figures while those terms and conditions were being taken away. Ryanair’s profits grew every year (with a small exception in 2004) from £57.5m in 1999 to £480.9m last year. Passenger numbers grew every year, from 4.9m in 1999 to 50.9m in 2008, and are projected to be over 58m this year. Suffice to say, the pilots have lost while the company has gained.
Ryanair’s role in the
wider industry
As Ryanair pilots’ terms and conditions have decreased, the company has been able to gain a perceived unfair competitive advantage over other airlines which now have to consider reducing their terms and conditions or, worse, make layoffs to compete. In
other words, our inaction to stop this decrease in Ryanair’s terms and conditions over the years has led to reductions in the entire industry In Ryanair, pilots believe no thought is given to treating employees fairly, or what the cost of losing an experienced employee means to the company – but why would they? There are a myriad of hopefuls willing to produce the £30,000 up-front fee for a type rating; command upgrades are soon to have an application fee of £4,500. Ryanair does not need to care about losing someone experienced (and costly) because it can replace them with a cheaper (even profitable) person who will be willing to suffer hardships in order to get an airline job or promotion. Ryanair therefore does not need to care about its workforce – in its view, caring is costly. Not all airline managers are the same. Indeed some have voiced concern on these trends – it is not in their interest to reduce their terms and conditions but they have to keep competitive.
This is why what happens in Ryanair concerns everyone associated with commercial flying, because it is not only a diluting of terms and conditions, but could cause a trend towards lower experience levels.
BALPA has recognised this and has modernised its organisational structure to reflect the importance of the low-cost sector, allowing a greater representation from short-haul/low- cost operators in the BALPA council. It is important for Ryanair to have a voice on this council, so we might influence and make cases to change practices which affect us directly.
What is in store for future
Ryanair pilots?
Over the last decade Ryanair’s movement has been away from granting pilots ‘employee’ status towards favouring contract-based workers. New entrants to Ryanair are often not given a choice; once training is completed they are only given the option of taking a contract through a sister agency called Brookfield Aviation. Under Brookfield, pilots are classified as self-employed. In the past management has successfully utilised this division to pitch Brookfield pilots against Ryanair employees, however Brookfielders are coming to the realisation that they are not so much Brookfield pilots, but Ryanair pilots on weaker contracts. Brookfielders are contractually bound not to fly outside Ryanair; they are told when to work, when to take leave, can be laid-off at a moment’s notice but are not guaranteed a continuous source of income. As many of these pilots do not have a choice and are currently seeing reductions in their flying hours (therefore their source of income), they are a cheap and effective way for Ryanair to utilise its workforce (a seasonal hire-and-fire them approach). Projecting the current trend forward, there is a real possibility that Ryanair will do away with permanent employees completely – or at least to the point it is legally permitted.
This provides extra challenges for the campaign. Workers have fewer rights than employees, and because Brookfield pilots are seen as self-employed, their ability to unite under a single banner is restricted. If Ryanair continues to water down the mix of employees it may become much harder for the pilot group to unite. For this reason, BALPA and the campaigners in Ryanair realise the best time for recognition is now. Brookfield pilots can still support the campaign by signing the on-line, confidential petition (just follow the link at the end of this article). One of the targets for the campaign is to see that those pilots at least get the option to take up employee status. dignity
and respect
Ryanair continues to treat its employees as operational costs, not people. The professionalism demonstrated by Ryanair pilots cannot continue to be exploited by management. We are professional pilots. We deserve to be treated in a manner commensurate with our ability and responsibility.
As individuals we do not have the strength to challenge management if we perceive ourselves to be unfairly treated. This is why this campaign’s primary goal is to gain the ability to bargain collectively: strength in numbers.
A company that is willing to listen
and work with its staff to achieve amicable solutions has nothing to fear from its workforce. Pilots have a vested interest in the direction of the company; our jobs depend on it being successful; it is in our interests to reach solutions which benefit the company. With that being said, pilots also have a responsibility to themselves, their colleagues and to their families not to allow management to take them for granted. With a greater flow of communication between pilots and management, Ryanair can work cohesively to meet the demands of the industry, remain competitive and strive to provide a better service. It needs both sides to respect each other and engage in serious, grown-up discussions over where we want this company to be long term.
The Ryanair Recognition Campaign is being led by pilots in Ryanair, with the assistance of BALPA and backing of the NEC, which provides support and campaign guidance. Together we will speak for all Ryanair pilots and take their concerns to management and make them listen.
The time has finally come to take a stand. We are fighting for your right to be heard!

Ryanair Pilots a ticking time bomb, SUICIDE First officer Paul Ridgard

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am a captain, working for Ryanair over the last ….. years. I am based in Europe and have been working out of base multiple times. I have seen a lot from this company and i have noted that there are serious dangerous things going on in this company.
There is a very high level of stress and fatigue. The pilots are living in continuous fear, scared to speak up, cause off getting fired. We have no union, and a lot of pilots are forced on a (illegal) free-lance contract, which can be cancelled anytime, even after 5 years of duty.

There are multiple things going on in this company that will get headlines on tomorrow’s newspapers.
Most of the pilots are a ticking time bomb... can not cope with the high stress level, sleeping during flights and are not able to perform 100% when necessary.
There are multiple things like (quick example) the incident on 12/04/2009. Where a ryanair flight landed on the taxiway in CAG, instead of the runway.
We also had people landing with the wrong flaps settings (very high speed approaches), and people taking off in the wrong configuration...
I hope you understand that is a big safety issue, and one day this will lead into something else....

Lately, a first officer in Liverpool committed suicide,

notice from RYR to the pilots:
PAUL RIDGARD RIP

The funeral of Paul Ridgard will take place at 12:30 on Wednesday June 15th at
St. Werburgh's

Church
Church Street

Spondon
Derby DE21 7LL.
All his former colleagues are welcome.

Nobody is aware of the real story,
That this guy, already asked RYR multiple times to have unpaid leave to cope with his problems.
After his father died, ryanair forced him to work (as i heard) on his father’s funeral.
Due to this big loss in the family, his mother got really depressed.
He asked RYR to get unpaid leave, but again this was denied. He was dealing with a lot of stress, and i can imagine that someone in his position wouldn’t be fit to fly.
He was scared to loose his job, not able to support his family again and tried to cope with the problems.

Recently, Paul was doing his command upgrade. This was something he was focusing on.
Meanwhile walking up to the aircraft the Base Training Captain, who was examining his flight, just told him; '' yeah Paul, between you and me, we can do this formal flight, but i already know the outcome, you will fail, cause i have been told by Ryanair (Tony Owen, head of training) to fail you, and you will never get your command.''
Together with all other things above, RYR working against him in all aspects, Paul got home
and committed suicide. The company was aware of his situation, and denied any help.

This is just one of the examples, of course, nobody talks about it.

I have a lot of other colleagues, first officers as well captains, who can not deal with the company stress no more.
Always living in fear; Ryanair can end your contract anytime. Furthermore, it’s not possible to build up any social life. RYR often changes you around all bases, and your ''home base'' can be changed anytime. This gives a lot of stress for people with a family, and having i.e. a mortgage on a house. Also the aggressive business strategy of RYR includes closing bases from day to day, just to force the government to deal with RYR's demands.
Lately they transferred all Pilots from the Marseille base. They are all totally Fu#@, they were also FORCED to take a 30% pay cut take it or leave it.
You can image, how they feel, having everything build up in Marseille, and now leaving to another base, with a forced pay cut, not being able to fund all monthly expenses no more, not being home with the family.
TICK, TACK, TICK, TACK.

Another thing is that a lot of pilots are flying out of base,
To get to your destination base for that working week, you have to travel around the whole ryanair network. To get from Italy, to i.e. Germany, you have to travel via Denmark and you will be busy two days longer, to get to your work, and to get back from. RYANAIR DOESNT COUNT THESE TRAVELS AS DUTY TIME. This ends up in people stressing around from a to b. to get there in time. Often you end up on your destination in the end of evening. Getting in your hotel around twelve, and asleep around 1. thereafter you have to get up at 4.15 to start with your early flights.
I think we agree that an 3 hours sleep is not enough to have the responsibility of four flights x 189 passengers.
Again, Ryanair, doesn’t count this as official duty time. But on the pilot roster this comes up as a new temporarily out of base station. How you get there is your own problem.
By JAA avation LAW, this IS counted as duty time. But, probably RYR made a deal, and until now nobody is looking at this... and meanwhile this illegal rostering is going on and on... bringing more fatigue among the pilots. TICK TACK TICK TACK

90% of the 25min turnarounds a lie, and we lie on the paper, just not to get questioned by the company.

Meanwhile, 99% percent of the pilots want a union. But RYR strategically makes sure we can not get one. Last time they 'freeze'' all UK bases, nobody in and out. and they told all the First Officers that they wouldn't never get their command upgrade if there came a Union.
I don’t know the exact figures, but to get a union u need the majority of all pilots to vote for a union. RYR at this time hired new pilots, and they offered them a contract and only a job, if they would sign on forehand to be against a union. in this smart case it wasn't possible to get a union.
Everybody who speaks about any union, just gets fired...that’s the culture and the fact that is there right now...in this company.

we just have to see, if this ''awarded'' company will be a success in the future.
From the inside, i can tell you that a lot of pilots are leaving.
Air Dubai, approached RYR on a gentlemen s basis, to warn them that a couple of hundred pilots are busy with the selection process at fly Dubai and they have taken already a lot of them.
Also already a 100 pilots left to emirates.
There was a captain who was off the full month off April. The 1st of may, crew control called the captain cause he was late and thereafter didn’t show up for work. he disappeared, left the company with no notice, and got already a job in Qatar. He just treated the company, as the company did with him.

- RYR announced a WET LEASE with other companies, cause they don't have crew to operate their flights this summer.

- and yes it is true what they say....
The only thing we get form the company is a cup of warm water.... we have to bring our own instant coffee... to make our coffee.....

If you would like to have any further information, feel free to email me.

If you are interested about the success of RYR... below the article of how ryanair deals with their daily operation, also with avoiding paying a lot of taxes.

IRISH AVIATION AUTHORITY...STOP RYANAIR BULLY BOYS ''NOW'' STOP TURNING A BLIND EYE....

John said,
Below is a letter sent to the IAA today 4th July 2011...

Irish Aviation Authority

Dear Sir,
I am contacting you today with regards Ryanair’s treatment of Pilots and Cabin Crew in the work place.

A present Ryanair Pilot has contacted RyanairDontCare Campaign with some disturbing information which is enclosed in this letter.

As the IAA and Ryanair are both registered in Ireland I feel the IAA, as the Irish Aviation Authority, need to look into these issues as a PRIORITY.
If for whatever reason you feel these  issues do not fall into your jurisdiction, then please pass all information to who it does fall into.

The safety of Pilots, Cabin Crew and passengers are at risk because of the actions of Ryanair Management in the work place.
Bullying and ill treatment of Pilots and Cabin Crew at Ryanair is at a high level, leading to stress and in some cases suicide.
Only a few weeks ago a UK pilot at Ryanair took his own life and Ryanair’s work place could be involved.( Paul Ridgard  Real Important Pilot )
The fact that a present Ryanair Pilot (captain) contacted our campaign shows the seriousness of these issues.

This treatment also occurs to Probationary Cabin Crew at Ryanair who have no  help whatsoever.
As a health and safety point, we at RyanairDontCare Campaign feel it is time for health/councillor to be put in place at all airports to deal with stress amounts not only Ryanair crew but all airline crew.

I would hope the IAA would act seriously to these issues raised above and do not turn a blind eye to CREW at Ryanair.

Thank you for your time.

Kindest Regards

RYANAIR BROOKFIELD PILOTS ARE IN DANGER OF HIGH STRESS LEVELS...AUTHORITIES MUST ACT ''NOW''

Ryanair Pilot
-------------
There are many implications relating to the Brookfied Aviation contractors associated with Ryanair, some of which may not be obvious to the general public and the fare paying customers of Ryanair.
The whole reason that Brookfied Aviation was set up was so that Ryanair could shy away from it’s social welfare contributions as stated above and so that the pilots would have no employment rights. The manager of Brookfield Aviation is the ex-head of Ryanair HR, Declan Dooney. Mr. Dooney left Ryanair to set up the desired pilot contract workforce for Ryanair and this has grown to a massive scale due to the percentage of contractor pilots currently in Ryanair, about 65%. Various government bodies around Europe (excluding the UK) have questioned the legality of this practice and this is why the pilots are now forced to set up limited companies in Dublin with one of three Brookfield selected accountants (who take a mandatory 3% from their salaries) so that they can pay their taxes in Ireland, this is how they pacified the Irish Government. The limited company idea is only a temporary reprieve for them because Brookfield is only enforcing the new terms onto new pilots and allowing the existing contractors to remain on any scheme that they wish, even when their contracts are being renewed. There are hundreds of Brookfield pilots either not paying tax at all or paying through offshore dubious schemes in the IOM, Jersey, etc. In many cases these are people who live and work in the UK, so the UK government is missing out on a lot of tax and appears to be less interested than many other European counties, despite the fact that we are supposed to be cracking down on all illegal tax schemes.
So, the financial effect is the more obvious but there are more important effects to. The pilots are paid by the flying hour and their volume of work is totally dependant on the rostering department of Ryanair giving them some work. Often pilots are not being paid much money, especially in the winter months. Due to inconsistent income and pilots who are running into financial difficulties, often unable to pay their mortgages etc. result = PILOT STRESS.
The pilots are NOT allowed to seek work elsewhere because when they are not rostered for work they are on standby for the company to use them at a moments notice if they wish, this is every airline’s operational requirement but all other airlines pay a salary for that privilege. Some pilots in these winter months are flying two may be three days per month which means that they are earning less than £1000 per month, result = PILOT STRESS.
There is no sick pay, so human nature is to go to work when one is not really up to it, I’ve seen people in work very ill indeed. Despite the fact that the pilots are not employed by Ryanair they have to provide an official doctor’s sick note for any sickness whatsoever.
Brookfield pilots are often rostered to work from another European base at very short notice, they have to pay all associated travel and hotel costs themselves upfront even if they haven’t been earning any money for several months and therefore can’t afford to do so, result = PILOT STRESS. When rostered to fly from another base the days spent getting to and from that base are known in the industry as “duty days” There are certain legal flight time limitations in place to prevent pilots being fatigued and therefore not safe to fly, one of those limitations is the number consecutive duty days in a certain period and another is the length of each duty day. Ryanair refuses to accept that the days spent travelling are in fact duty days, but it clearly states in the official legal documentation that any days spent travelling at the behest of the company are “duty days” This can easily be conformed with the Civil Aviation Authority. result = PILOT STRESS and FLIGHT SAFETY ISSUE.
You may be wondering why I and many others put up with it, its because there is nothing else available in the UK which is why many UK pilots are now seeking employment in the Middle and Far East.
All in all I have used the phrases PILOT STRESS and FLIGHT SAFETY ISSUE where appropriate but PILOT STRESS is in itself a FLIGHT SAFETY ISSUE so the hidden effect of the illegal contractor pilots and dictatorship attitude is FLIGHT SAFETY and should be addressed by the Civil Aviation Authority and The Irish Aviation Authority before it’s too late, its unsafe! The Irish Aviation Authority appears to be entirely disinterested in the wrong doings of Ryanair due to its very close relationship with Mr O’Leary and his fellow directors.
If any journalist were to challenge Ryanair on these issues I’m sure that they would refuse to comment because this is all based on fact and they couldn’t possibly justify any of it.

Ryanair European Cabin Crew Association....UNIONS NEED TO HELP RYANAIR 'S CABIN CREW ALSO

We call on Ryanair European Pilots Association,Balpa and Ialpa to set up a union for Cabin Crew at Ryanair who need also to be united.
RyanairDontCare Campaign will offer help in any way shap or form at no charge...

Ryanair European Cabin Crew Association...............................

Michael O'Leary & David Bonderman need to read this article below....

This article was on,
http://www.pprune.org/terms-endearment/455706-open-letter-pilot-glen-tilton-ceo-united-air-lines.html

An Open letter from a pilot to Glen Tilton (CEO United Air Lines):

Recently a lot has been said and written in the press concerning
pilots' salaries and compensation. We have been told about how much it
will cost our company, our job has been compared to others, and
various subtle and not so subtle threats and intimidation tactics have
been hurled at our group. In light of the current situation, please
permit me, a pilot, to give you a small glimpse into my world.

Don't compare my job to other jobs:

How many boardrooms explode over Long Island Sound?

How many meetings conclude with hundreds of dead bodies?
How many trucks cost $82 million dollars?
How many doctors spend half the month away from their families?
Do the children of media representatives cry when Daddy puts on his
uniform to go to work because they know he'll be gone for a week?
How many salesmen lose their jobs because they have high blood pressure?
How many lawyers spend Christmas alone in a crash pad?
When your spouse is watching TV and the program is interrupted does
he/she momentarily freeze in fear for what they might hear?

There is not another profession in the world where the consequences

for mistakes are so catastrophic and unforgiving.

The Price:

I pay the price when somebody loads full oxygen containers in the cargo hold.

I pay the price when a terrorist has a bone to pick.
I pay the price when weather forecasters err in their assessment of the weather.
I pay the price when engineers design a fuel pump not quite correctly.

You Speak of the Cost:

Ask the CEO of ValueJet the cost of a DC-9 buried in the

Everglades.
Ask Fred Smith the cost to scrape a DC-10 and MD-11 from the runways
at Steward and Newark.
Ask Korean Airlines the cost of a 747 that didn't quite make the runway at Guam.
Ask Fine Air the cost to clean up a DC-8 off a Miami street.
Ask Bob Crandall the cost of a B-757 impacting a Columbian mountain.
And if not for their cool, calm professionalism, what could have been
the cost of a UAL B-777 that lost oil pressure over the middle of the
Pacific Ocean and limped to Hawaii on a single engine? How much were
they worth to you that night? Industry standard or 25% below?

When you try to intimidate me, remember:

It was I who flew Cobra gunships in the jungles of Vietnam while you

worked on your master's degree.
It is I who sits alone at the tip of an F-18 in the silent instant
before I am catapulted over a cold, dark sea, while you sleep
peacefully in your bed.
It was I who one night watched my wings grow heavy with ice, miles
from the safety of the nearest airport, praying that I had enough fuel
to find clear skies, while you watched Monday Night Football.
It was I who flew a C-130 into Panamanian gunfire, while you decorated
your Christmas tree in 1989.
It was I who faced head-on the fourth largest army in the world over
the deserts of Iraq and brought it to its knees, while you watched it
on CNN.
It was I who landed an A-6 on a floating piece of tarmac no bigger
than your backyard, while you mowed yours.
It was I who orbited in unarmed tankers over enemy territory to
replenish others sworn to protect you.
It was I, who watched missiles and bullets blossom in my face, yet
didn't turn and run, while you watched the flowers blossom in you
garden.
It was I who buried a friend.
It was I who knows a little boy who will never play catch with his
dad, so that you may play with you grandchild.

Sir, please don't try to intimidate ME. I am not your enemy, I am your

asset, an asset that has experienced and accomplished things few dare
to try. Realize this and there are few obstacles we can't overcome.

BONDERMAN tpg capital & O'LEARY TAKE NOTE.....& RESIGN.....

RYANAIR PILOTS SO SCARED...THEY EVEN HAVE THEIR OWN WEBSITE ....

It amazes me that unions are aware of the bad treatment of Crew at Ryanair and still,it goes on each and every day.
A website for Ryanair pilots REPA, i think was set up to help pilots at Ryanair...Surly enough, Balpa and IALPA must have contact with governments and Aviation Authorities, who would listen to Ryanair Crew....

Unions must do so much more for Ryanair Crew as it is a matter of life and death,as seen a few weeks ago..''SUICIDE''

Commercial Pilots Security
below the radar
crawls the hijacker from within
By Nigel Pogmore

I would not be telling you anything new when pointing out that after 9/11,airport security extended   into areas  previously unimaginable. Nowadays the  probability of passing through a far reaching body scan are far greater than ever before. If you were to ask me if I was concerned or in any way embarrassed about  such probing  practices taking place, I would  say, “not in the slightest”. Having said that I might have some sympathy for the trusted security officers having to conduct this type of surveillance. Best to  spare a thought for them, in hope that the repetitive nature of their profession, does not hamper the level of  commitment required.
As a commercial licensed pilot myself,   although be it of  lesser non-essential form of aviation, I never allow myself  to question or indeed get ruffled whilst having to endure checks and repeated checks as I make my way through to  air side of  any particular airport.  Whilst in such   time-consuming   queues, I prefer to allow myself to be entertained, by    observing  the seemingly choreographed body language of those around me. How many times can  one   set about demonstrating displeasure by huffing and puffing at the same time flexing ones  right arm to  eye-level  in order to squint  at  ones  glittering timepiece.  At the same  as this  well practiced dance is taking,  I am evaluating  the grumblings of my nearby, sometimes not so nearby   fellow travelers.  Although, most likely not terrorists themselves, more often than not  they appear to have one thing in common.  I’m referring to the selectively  choosing   not to accept that security measures in place are there for the good of all genuine travelers alike.   Surely there is no contest, one-hour also going through security, is far better than spending the morning with the undertaker.
Of course my fellow  travelers have every right to enquire if after  been deprived  of that very necessary, few extra minutes  rummaging through duty-free,    are they  now guaranteed safe passage to their intended destination? after all, I  for one would say there’s no denying that the airport  authorities have done their part. So what could go wrong.
For the normal passenger, without any experience in the airline industry, they would be excused for thinking that everything his hunky-dory.  However  has anybody ever given the slightest  thought  regarding the flight crew, what is their background, what are the training standards of the company that they represent?  How old is the aircraft, has it been serviced correctly? These  are all relevant  considerations.  In reality we have no way of knowing the   answers to any of the above, we simply settle back into our window seat,  to be pampered by a    the highly  undervalued, yet sometimes mollycoddling cabin crew.
I suspect that the traveling public would be horrified to learn that despite having some highly qualified flight crew sitting up front, that their expertise may well be seriously undermined by the threats and intimidation practices waged against them by their employers. Yes talking about managers with no aviation qualifications.  Now before anyone starts having  nightmares, even after my  experiences  with rogue air operators,   I remain confident that majority of operators are worthy   of the trust afforded by their passengers.
In my previous publications that can now be found on the web,  I gave birth to the phrase  “The Alaskan Airlines Scenario.”  In short a diligent ground engineer was soon sent packing after ordering a $60,000  replacement part referred to as Jack screw.   With the engineer unceremoniously yet  economically sidelined by his employer, the offending aircraft  was  quickly released back into service without repairs being carried out.
It was not long before the very aircraft plummeted into the sea killing all 83 on board. You will not be surprised  that the following  investigation, found that the  jack screw had failed due to improper  servicing practices.

In my situation, in 2009 after the owners had already had three fatalities on their hands  spanning  over two separate accidents, I was appointed safety officer of UK registered Serengeti Balloon Safaris Ltd. Just prior to being appointed to this position, I had been assured of the continuance of my employment as pilot. Once my initial safety report hit the bosses desk,  similar to the Alaskan airlines engineer, I was also sent packing, however not before been warned not to bother reporting them to the civil aviation  authority, “you’ll be wasting your time as we fill their pockets” As if this was not bad enough,  another ruthless warning was quickly  heading my way “if you do not go quietly I will tarnish your reputation within the industry and see that you never fly again”
I have not flown since that time.
One year after my rather abrupt  departure, I would go public  warning the traveling public to expect an hot air balloon accident  taking place in the Serengeti National Park.
Whilst the company did everything they could to bring down my website and photographic evidence  of aircraft defects, I maintained a presence.
Within four months of my warning  been ignored,  one American and one Danish passenger  were killed,  eight others were seriously injured and remain traumatised to this day.   Interestingly only one balloon pilot decided to fly that morning, with the other, an Australian pilot, stating that it was too windy to do so.
There is a twist to this story, and one certainly destined for the headlines.   The company in question is now  placing   charges against me. Amongst  numerous charges,  in an act of hypocrisy Serengeti Balloon Safaris Ltd are now claiming $500,000 damages from me apparently for damaging their business.
I would encourage comments from both the  aviation industry and the traveling public.   I would particularly welcome views of what you think should be done  in order to bring  such  wayward operators in to line with normal and respected commercial aviation practices.
full details can be found on the following websites the latter being the,  condensed version.

John Said,
Thank you Nigel for your comment.I thought it would be better to post this comment so you could get more hits...Goodluck. and GODBLESS

RYANAIR BROOKFIELD CONTRACTED PILOTS...DAILY MIRROR NEED YOUR HELP PLEASE...

Dear reader,

You've been in touch with us over the past year about our Gizza Proper Job campaign and we now need your help getting something done about it.

We have found unfair cases of forced self-employment in all walks of life and across many different industries. We don't believe this has ever been properly researched before and the Government needs to know what is happening.

We want your stories of false self-employment, straight from the horse's mouth, to present to the Department for Business and other key figures in politics and Government.

Please find some time to write a statement for our dossier. We'll leave the wording of your statement entirely up to you but here are some areas you might like to cover:

* The name of your "employer", how long you worked for them and what your job entailed

* Describe a typical working day or week ... the hours, who allocated the work, who decided how the job was carried out and when

* How were you paid? Per hour, per job or commission only? How much did you typically earn? Were you able to set your own rate of pay? Did you pay your own tax? Did you earn above the minimum wage? Were any deductions made by your employers from your pay packet?

* How genuinely "self-employed" were you? Did you work for anyone else at the same time? Did you provide the tools or materials required for doing the job? Were you able to take time off? Were you treated differently from full-time employees, if any? Did you hire others to do your work for you? Could you send someone else to do the job on your behalf?

* Do/did you get sick pay, holiday pay? If you have left the job, did you get redundancy? What notice period were you given and how were you told the job was ending? How did this affect you?

* Do you have any choice about being "self-employed"? What do you think about the arrangement?

I need your full name and contact details to be sure your story is genuine but make a 100% guarantee that I will not pass them on to anyone else without your permission. Please mark clearly whether you want me to keep your name on the statement that I will be passing on to Business Secretary Vince Cable, Employment Minister Ed Davey and others in Westminster.

I am sorry this is an impersonal letter but we've heard from hundreds of supporters of our campaign and want each of you to contribute. If we don't tell the Government what's going on we can't blame them when they do nothing about it.

Best regards,

Nick Sommerlad

I just was only a victim more. Someone is cheating people from their land. But I wrote them, they never replied me.

I hope the same, I don't give up myself, I am still trying to get a job... sending resumes, but it's hard. Your welcome and thank you too for being as kind.

PAUL RIDGARD.....REAL IMPORTANT PILOT....RYANAIR...DC MATT FRYER FROM MANCHESTER POLICE CONTACT RYANAIRDONTCARE CAMPAIGN.

Any person who personally new Paul Ridgard ( Real Important Pilot )family or work colleague please contact DC Fryer as a Priority please...

Paul Ridgard...R.I.P.Liverpool John Lennon Airport...Candles and Chinese Lantins

Midnight on 14th June 2011 RyanairDontCare Campaign lit candles and said prayers in respect of Paul Ridgard (Real Important Pilot ) at Ryanair.
We would like to thank Training Pastor Mick Kinsella and his wife Susan and the people who came along..
No donation bucket was used as i thought it was not right to protest and Donate at the same time...

At 2 Oclock Liverpool Airport air traffic control centre made time for us to light 10 Chinese Latins, all with Paul's name on,which myself,Gerry my uncle and Patrick from Anfield Scandal helped to light..
These were a respect to a Pilot, who we believe was a GREAT first officer at Ryanair, just a bloody shame O'Leary and Bonderman never thought so......
At 12.30 pm on 15th June 2011 i stood 50 ft away from a Ryanair Aircraft getting ready to load passengers and held a placard up for Crew to see.....RYANAIR INSULTS PILOTS was the wording....

From 2am till 4pm on the 15th June i did a protest outside the John Lennon Airport.I was trying to do it for 24 hours but 16 was all i could do as it was very cold and wet with no roof cover...
Many passengers and crew and staff at John Lennon saw our Anti Ryanair Banners and asked for information, which was pleasing...RyanairDontCare Campaign wish to thank John Lennon Airport and the Airport Police for allowing this Peaceful protest..

It was amazing how many passengers do not like Ryanair, many told me yesterday, but many still use this Airline which are, Europe's Greatest Training Robbers''GUARENTEED''.
Passengers need to look at the moral issues when booking a flight with Ryanair, they need to know how bad a company they are, putting profit before safety,Crew and passengers....

I wish to comment on what i saw with regards Ryanair Cabin Crew at John Lennon Airport..I saw the change of shift whilst i was their yesterday and Ryanair Cabin Crew came out in ones and three,s ,  which leads me to believe the 1 cabin crew (was no1 on aircraft) which have better pay and the 3 cabin crew (2 ,3,4 probationary on aircraft) who are exploited by Ryanair.... No 1 is a supervisor, as many give probationary cabin crew a hard time whilst in work,,,Is this the reason why they walk out of work this way......I would welcome any comments on this please...
